washington, d.c. | southern efficiency, northern charm

2014, Culture, Food, May, Travel

as i mentioned in my new york post i stopped over in dc for a couple of days to visit my friend amy. i think this quote describes washington dc well:

“washington is a city of southern efficiency and northern charm”
john f. kennedy

it was a stark contrast to the endlessly busy new york city. from biking through georgetown {and of course sampling those yummy cupcakes}, to visiting the smithsonians and posing at the gate of the whitehouse as well as stopping by the eastern market. i think i needed a couple more days to drink it all in. all of it.

i was bright-eyed and bushy tailed for the whole two days.

amy, you were a phenomenal host. you know i’m coming back right?

^^there was just something about this store. maybe it was the fact that it was called the fairy godmother. or maybe its because of all those colors. but i literally stopped and took a picture. it more than caught my eye.^^

^^this bath tub. it was glorious perfection. my feet and muscles were oh so grateful.^^

if you’re going to d.c. then i would suggest:
// georgetown, georgetown, georgetown
// and with that georgetown cupcake
// rent out a bike for at least part of your day
// stop by at least one of the musuems
// the lincoln memorial
// the lincoln restaurant. oh my. so so good
// visit the eastern market
// stop by the georgetown waterfront

i just want to travel. all the time.

“once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. the mind can never break off from the journey.”
